Straylight Run--John Nolan (vocals, guitar, piano), Shaun Cooper (bass), Michelle DaRosa (vocals, keyboard, guitar), and Will Noon (drums)--has announced they’ll be releasing a new live album tomorrow (5/1), titled Straylight Run Live At The Patchogue Theatre, and donating 100% of the album sales to Feeding America®, the largest hunger-relief organization in the United States.

Marking the first release from the Baldwin, New York indie rock band since 2008, the digital-only release will be available exclusively on Bandcamp, as part of a new initiative by the music marketplace and streaming service to forgo its share of sales (on the first Friday of each month, for a 24-hour period) to support artists and record labels impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The next 24-hour period begins tonight (4/30) at 12 Midnight PT. Click here for more info on Bandcamp’s initiative.

Regarding the new album Straylight Run Live At The Patchogue Theatre, Nolan shares, “In 2005, Straylight Run filmed and recorded a live performance at The Patchogue Theatre on Long Island. It was an amazing night. The show was put on to raise money for a friend of ours who had an accident at work. The feeling in the room and on stage that night was incredible. Our original plan was to release a DVD of the performance. Unfortunately, the footage ended up being unusable, so plans for the DVD were scrapped. The audio from the show sounded great but at the time, we were getting ready to release our first EP, so putting out a live album at the same time didn't make sense. We didn't know what to do with the recording, so it stayed on the shelf with the idea in the back of our minds that we'd release it someday. Now, fifteen years later, that day has arrived. It feels like the right time to share this with people and to share it for a good cause. 100% of the money from the sales of this album will go to Feeding America, a network of food banks across the country. Feeding America provides over 4.3 billion meals annually, helping one-in-seven Americans facing hunger. The work they do is extremely important, and in the middle of this pandemic, it's more important than ever. We hope that this live album will be a source of happiness for people and also help raise some money for a very worthy cause.”

Nolan, along with members of Straylight Run, are scheduled to make an appearance on Riot Fest’s new livestream series, “Riot Fest at Home”, tomorrow (5/1) at 6:00 pm CT/ 7:00 pm ET on the Chicago punk festival’s Facebook page. The appearance will feature the band performing an acoustic set (including songs off the new album), plus an interview with Nolan.

Straylight Run was founded in 2003 by vocalist, guitarist and pianist John Nolan and bassist Shawn Cooper, current members of Victory Records alumni and genre-defying rock band Taking Back Sunday. After recording their first demos they were joined by Michelle DaRosa on vocals, piano and guitar and Will Noon on drums. The group soon recorded several demo tracks that they released as free downloads on their website. The accessibility of the songs, coupled with the past reputation of its chief songwriter, began an early and quick growing buzz around the band. In April 2004 they released their debut self-titled album, while their first single "Existentialism on Prom Night" worked its way into rotation on Alternative Rock radio, MTV2 and Fuse. The band went on to release one additional studio album and four EPs before going on hiatus in 2010.
